shaggy dog story
kay middlemiss

“Ladies and Gentlemen and fellow dog owners.  Can you all hear me?  We’ve had a bit of trouble with the microphone this afternoon. Here Max, sit. I said sit.   Ladies and Gentleman, I am proud and honoured…  Ah, we are proud and honoured, to be awarded the Grand Challenge Cup for the most obedient Border Collie dog in the show.  Sit down Max.  Sit!  The competition, I must admit, was formidable.  As one would expect in a sheep farming community, there are so many wonderful, well trained and obedient working dogs here today.  Sit down Max.

“I really didn’t think that Max and I stood a chance, let alone win the cup.  Max will you sit!  On such an auspicious occasion, Max and I would like to thank the runners-up and all the other brilliant contestants for your support this afternoon.  We, Border Collie owners, all know that our dogs are considered the most intelligent breed in the canine world.  Max, will you sit down. They understand everything we say, and stop pawing my leg. The bond between dog and owner is a very special privilege.  Max, stop it.  Winning this hotly contested prize has given me the impetus to go further, to win obedience classes in other shows. With a dog like Max…  Max?  Max!  Ma-a-a-x…

"Has anyone seen a black and white collie dog?”
