Who knows what you may stumble upon
Perhaps a Ming vase, made in Taiwan

A white wedding dress for when love comes your way
A three tiered ceramic hors d'oevre tray

A dish for nuts complete with nutcracker
A dressing table covered in black lacquer

With doors that stick and drawers too loose
Items of value and others of no use.

Iron pots and chamber pots from days of old
When lavatories were few and nights were cold

A painting of a Chinese lady with a green face
Embroidered doileys edged with frayed lace

Black and white portraits once gazed fondly upon
Of people and places now long gone

A treasure map that looks bona fide
On the shelf with Ivanhoe, Black Beauty and Heidi

Blow up toys that will soon deflate
Pudding basins and old cracked plates

Fox fur coat with mothballs and stuffed fish
A hallmarked silver petit four dish

Come in and see what can be found
Need a set of encyclopaedia, all leather look bound

A string of what looks like genuine pearls
Hairdryers and rollers to make your hair curl

What looks like a fine cashmere shawl
Covering an old battered basketball

There's that lid for your square casserole
An old rug, lamp and bamboo fishing pole

Things that have known better days
Thrown out, rejected, a parting of the ways.
